Please help circulate widely!

Hi my name is Jim (Pinky) Starr.I had police call around my house looking for someone reported staying at my house, this male person the police where looking for wasn't even in the area as far as I'm aware, last I heard he was in Birmingham! He was reported to the police by my neighbour and his ex girlfriend who is staying next door. The police came in searched the property for him and found items that made them arrest me!

I requested about 8 times for my wheelchair to come with me to the police station - this was refused.

I requested could a police officer come down to the station with me in my car with the wheel chair... no. Could my carer bring the wheelchair to the police station for me..... no. Can you transport me in the chair to the station.... no. I had to use sticks as I had no choice as my powered wheelchair and manual chair requests where refused. I requested that I take my tablets before we go into the station, it's all prescribed and I have proof. This was refused and I was told to put the lose tablets which where in my hand into the container and the nurse will OK taking the medication at the station.

The trip over to the police station was jolting my back as I had no support on the seats in the back of the police car.

At arrival of the police station I was told I wouldn't have to walk far, even though it was a short distance to walk it caused bad pain to my arms. The nurse at the station refused to give me my normal medication as they where not in the boxes the tablets come in. I was only allowed steroids as I had the box, then they only gave me under half of the dose I needed. The officer didn't tell me to take anything into the station apart from my tablets which he took. I requested my medical notes to be taken in with me as well as a few other bits of paperwork. This was OK'd but the Police didn't bring it in as I requested...

Legalise Cannabis March and Rally 2009 - Dublin and Cork

Assemble: 1.30 pm

Dublin - Garden of Rememberance, Parnell Square

Cork - Bishop Lucy Park, Grand Parade

A little history -

Legalise Cannabis Ireland was founded almost two and a half ago following several years of sporadic attempts at highlighting the fallacy that is the prohibition of cannabis. Prior to this, virtually the only public cannabis actions were J-Days - annual mass smoke-ups in a park. A few had taken place in Dublin but following an initial flourish, attendances dwindled. Only a small crowd assembled in 2006 at the aptly named Marlay Park. This gathering was interrupted by a nasty bunch of Gardai who proceeded to demand all kinds of silly information from the innocent afternoon tokers, some of whom were arrested.

The Global Marijuana March 2009. Lets go marching

April 23, 2009 | Posted in General Activism | 0 Comments

For some the Global Marijuana March is a day they would not miss, while some will have or will only become aware of its existence for the first time this year. So what is the Global Marijuana March and what can you do once you've heard of this event? Apart from attending of course.

While there has been marches and other events against cannabis prohibition for many years in various countries, the Global Marijuana March in its current format began in 1999 and some cities will be holding their 10th event this coming May, while some like in Cork in Ireland will be holding their first. Some of the well known organisers since 1999 include Dana Beal, a social and political activist who runs the website cures-not-wars.org and who has been involved in the cannabis movement for decades. The Cannabis Culture Magazine and its contributors such as Marc Emery as well as other famous faces from the cannabis scene have also played their part in making the Global Marijuana March what it is today, along with every single person who has turned up and shown their support and who will I hope continue to show their support for as long as it takes.

According to the organisers themselves over 544 cities from 54 nations have signed up since 1999, thus showing the strength this march has and no doubt in the coming years the number of cities and nations involved will continue to grow as more and more people realise that cannabis prohibition just does not work. The Global Marijuana March is a celebration embracing cannabis culture as a personal lifestyle choice and is a day out where you can meet like minded people in mass, something which is not always possible when cannabis users are treated like criminals. Participants at the events and the groups behind the marches unite to promote cannabis as the medicine it is, how prohibition is a failure and more, the events are also to entertain and educate both consumers and non-consumers alike.

Legalise Cannabis Ireland Meeting - April 21st

April 18, 2009 | Posted on Politics.ie Chat | 111+ Comments

image

In the build up to this years anti-prohibition of cannabis protest, which is taking place on Saturday May 9th, Legalise Cannabis Ireland is hosting a film screening and discussion in Seomra Spraoi, Tuesday April 21st at 7.30pm sharp, as an introduction to the group.

The event will include a slide show and footage from previous marches and discussions and questions answered, with some of the founding members of L.C.I. The previous two marches have been a big sucess with only a small group of organisers, this year we are hoping to get more people involved in the build up organising, to lighten our workload a little, allow us to make this march even better than lasts and share the stoner fun which is inevitably had.

If you want to find out more about Legalise Cannabis Ireland or would liket to get involved, this is the mid-week event for you!

Educate, Liberate, Cultivate!

We need reps in each county!

April 13, 2009 | Posted in General Activism | 16 Comments

CannabisIreland(.net) wants to establish a national community where we can collectively voice our opinions. We are working towards a national movement where all counties will have independant activism and would unite under one common force. We are clearly in the early days of setting this up, with the first march outside of Dublin being held here in Cork this year. But what a progressive year it has already been! The first phase of the national movement has been born, groups in Cork and Waterford have been set up and will hopefully inspire other groups around the country to do the same. Has there been a better time for us to be voiced?

Let me remind you though, that this is not upto us, it is upto you. Come join us and help get people involved!

Cork Cannabis March 09

November 15, 2009 | Posted in Cork Cannabis March 09 | 46 Comments

Im brainstorming lately about what work and how much work is involved in setting up a March here in Cork for 2009. How long before should I apply for a permit? How much money should be invested?

Im speculating its mostly labour intensive work; ie. handing out fliers, making posters... after the basics have been met id like to look into organising a band and perhaps a few fundraising events from here to May 09. Fliers and advertising is also potential.

My main concern is people wont take a 20 year old student too seriously but if I start now I'll hopefully have great ability in a few years

Im going to keep this thread upto date with all the movements so along the way if anyone has any advice or criticism id appreciate if they shared it

So far iv learned that I have to get:

  1. A letter for the Gardai with the route we intend to take with 2 signatures
  2. A permit for advertising posters; not sure on the price yet but i know its 100euro for a year in Dublin
  3. Volunteers
  4. Advertising Materials. This cost will be significantly reduced with more people

I may also email all the TDs (MPs) in my area and tell them what I intend to do any why

Im not sure if i need a permit to march or hold an event yet. I guess that I do, ill email the city council soon and ask
